Sean Bean to Headline Macbeth in London
19 June 2002
British star Sean Bean will take on the role of Macbeth in the West End this fall. The production is expected to open at the Albery Theatre on November 14.
Bean is perhaps best known on this side
of the pond for his role as the conflicted Boromir in The Fellowship
of the Ring and the rest of the upcoming Lord of the Rings films.
He does, however, boast an impressive list of stage credits, including
A Midsummer Night's Dream, Fair Maid of the West, and Romeo &
Juliet. This will the first time Bean, who studied at RADA, will
appear onstage in 12 years.
Before this production lands at the Albery Theatre, it will play
Milton Keynes (Oct 16-26) and Richmond (Oct 28-Nov 2). Edward
Hall, son of director Peter Hall, will direct. No other casting
has been announced.
