Edward Hall's production of Macbeth, also known as The Scottish Play because of its reputation for bad luck, and some actors' preference to avoid uttering its name, has now attracted a particularly strong cast.
In addition to the ever-smouldering Sean
Bean as Macbeth, and the leggy and sexy Samantha Bond as his ambitious
wife, it has now been
announced that Julian Glover, a stalwart of Shakespearean productions
for many years, is to play Duncan, King of Scotland.
Among the rest of the cast is Mark Bazeley, who plays MacDuff: he has been in two epic but modern productions, Tony Kushner's Homebody/Kabul at the Young Vic and the excellent but relatively unsuccessful London production of Antarctica at the Savoy.
Macbeth arrives at the Albery (for previews) on 7th November and opens a week later on the 14th.
