The Daily Telegraph (London) carried the following story on 22 August 1998:

SEAN BEAN has joined the cast of a trendy independent film
Being John Malkovich. He will act alongside John Malkovich,
John Cusack and Cameron Diaz. Cusack is a pupeteer-turned-clerk
who finds a porthole into John Malkovich's brain, and Bean is his boss, Dr Lester.

A quick tour of the Internet Movie Database for Being John Malkovich reveals the part of Dr. Lester is, in fact, played by Orson Bean (no relation).
