Townies

Last Update: 26 June 2007

Townies is a low-budget ($100,000) feature film produced by Boston writer
/ director / actor / producer Mike O'Dea.

Actor Tom Sizemore is / was cast as Irish mob boss Marty Flannagan.

Sizemore was arrested in May, 2007 at a Bakersfield hotel, where authorities
said they found methamphetamines in his car. He was released however a
Los Angeles judge later issued a warrant for his arrest for violating probation
in another methamphetamine case.

Superior Court Judge Cynthia Rayvis ordered Sizemore held without bail
pending a June 19 hearing. If convicted, he could be sentenced to 16
months in prison.

Mike O'Dea, on his Blog Site, has written:

Likely he'll be released on bail on the 19th and then go through the long
process of awaiting trial. If it turns out Tom is unable to leave the state,
we'll shoot his scenes in LA. If he's imprisoned before his scheduled
scenes in Townies, I'll proceed negotiations with Sean Bean's agent.

As of June 12, O'Dea has not been in touch with Sean's agent in the UK, and
there have been no negotiations, offers or discussions.

Update June 26, 2007:
On Monday, June 25, Tom Sizemore was sentenced to 16 months in prison for
violating probation. On Tuesday, June 26, Superior Court Judge Cynthia Rayvis
gave the actor 213 days of credit for time he has already spent in jail and
two live-in drug programs, leaving him with about nine months in state prison.

On June 25, Mike O'Dea posted the following on his Blog Site:

Sean Bean "Passes" on Townies
I've had to accept the reality that Tom will not be around in the next few
months to shoot Townies.

Sean Bean is one of the biggest celebrities next on my list to portray
the Irish mob boss after Tom. His agent Jane Brand got back to me
this morning. "Thanks, but Sean will pass. Best of Luck with the Movie."
