Momentum, Aurum love The Dark Mike Goodridge in Cannes
UK distributor Momentum Pictures and its new sister company Aurum
Producciones in Spain have made their first joint acquisition,
taking
rights in the UK and Spain to Impact Pictures‚ horror movie
The Dark
starring Sean Bean and Maria Bello from Summit Entertainment.
Momentum and Aurum teamed up when Momentum’s
parent
company, Canada’s Alliance Atlantis, closed a deal to buy
Aurum for
$54m earlier this month. Alliance Atlantis is the leading independent
distributor in Canada.
The Dark is the second film to be directed
by John Fawcett whose first
picture Ginger Snaps was a cult hit around the world and spawned
a
sequel. Scheduled to shoot in the UK and Isle Of Man in July,
the film
is about a series of mysterious occurrences that befall a young
family
haunted by the ghost of a dead child.
It is produced by Jeremy Bolt and Paul
Anderson’s Impact Pictures
and financed by Constantin Film in Germany.
