Shakespeare in LoveLast Update: 05 November 2000Sean's name was first associated with this film in the early 1990's, when it was being developed as a vehicle for Julia Roberts. Roberts' preferred choice for the part of Shakespeare was Daniel Day-Lewis, although Hugh Grant also apparently read for the part. Sean was among a handful of other actors who were actively considered to play opposite Roberts - the others included Ralph Fiennes, Colin Firth and Paul McGann. Julia Roberts eventually dropped out of the project and a "very different" version of the film was made with Gwynneth Paltrow and Joseph Fiennes in 1998. |
